At one time we thought about the alternative Windows Mail (in Vista it was). Looked a bunch of sites, ranging from Wikipedia with page comparison,
email clients and ending with the actual special vending sites. The result is not very good, all e-mail clients all the necessary functions for me (IMAP, RSS, and NNTP) and simple and user-friendly interface had only two programs: Windows Live Mail (then he was, but I did not set) and Mozilla Thunderbird. Who uses the Opera browser, that might suit him a built-in mailer. He also like a good, but not always friendly with encodings correctly, although it may be already fixed. In the end I settled on Windows Live Mail and use the new version (Windows Live Mail 2011) on Windows 7 until now. Advantages — simple installation, setup and use. Set and forget. Account using Google Mail (IMAP) and Hotmail. Plus read RSS. NNTP no longer use, because Microsoft covered.
