How to help the grandmothers to listen to audio books?

So, background: I have two grandmothers, both well over 80, both deaf and not good with technology.
In connection with a dead vision, can't read books and I miss them.
From alternative entertainment they have left only the idiot box, and it is not Gud.

Task: to give them the opportunity to listen to an audio book (in MP3 and similar formats)
— Кейс1: so that they could start and stop the audio. (Play/Pause)
— Кейс2: adjust the volume.
— Кейс3: (ideally) self-selection of books from a small list.

Suggestions to the interface: large buttons rather than the touch screen (they fear him)
A standard keyboard is not suitable because of the small size of the buttons.

QUESTION:
Vstrechali you ready solution?
If not, how would you approach this task?

PS I personally look to the side of the netbook + optimus mini three, but it does not solve the issue of Case No. 3. I think there is a more elegant solution.
P. P. S. to Rewrite audio books on an old audio cassette and give the grandparents a tape recorder — not to offer:)

Install on netboot/PC media but the type of Boxee/XMBC with a simple skin, to set large fonts, do buy a simple remote with large buttons for the PC will be able to manage large interface on TV when selecting MUSIC>LIST of FILES, BOOKS, listening through the speakers of the TV (or acoustics).

Google audiobook player for sight impaired
Turnkey solutions are, but they are not very much, and they're really expensive.
But maybe it will find it.

How about a iPod Shuffle? There is a VoiceOver — when you press the button the player says the name of the current record.

From personal experience:
— DVD with indicator tracks indicator (most important). Books either on disks or on a flash drive.
You know, looks like the last century and uncomfortable, but easy to learn — the 5 buttons and the ability to count.

Excellent, easy to control the loud machine sound. Grandmothers all aruno themselves would not download the audiobook. Will download on a USB a few pieces and go.
Upstairs all 4 buttons, one of which (the first) flashlight. Next: previous track or, if held, decrease the volume. Next Play/pause and next track. track/volume

If you plug in and do not power off, you can only use the buttons to play/pause. It has a built-in battery, so if anything, if the power outlet is far, it is possible and without it.

I took it to my grandmother. Though not books, and Retro FM to listen. This thing justifies the price in 100500 times. Take a look!

Can I suggest radically different? I understand that the grandparents are over 80, however, the progress of medicine are very serious. Maybe grandparents should be kept to the specialists in the field of eye microsurgery? If they say that some operations can be done to return the grandmothers vision, at least partially? If this has already been done and other options besides devices for reading books aloud is not, then I apologize.

You beautiful people, all right looking. My 80, they sit in Skype, calling up relatives with the laptop and, in General, are quite accustomed. Solutions to "single button" did not meet, but will closely monitor your topic.
