If I understand correctly, you want the program to be started when the system start, it need a demon. Why I can't find a demon for such programs as skype or dropbox?
How they work without demons?

Because the demon (or, in the terminology systemd "service") - it's not about desktop applications. Skype and dropbox doesn't run at system startup and after you Selaginella. What loads when you start system console.
