Where better to start with VisualBasic or C#?

I want to start to seriously learn programming. Why it is easier to get and no problems with the transition to C# in the future? Or is it still better to take it, even if more difficult?

VisualBasic (.NET) is almost indistinguishable from C#, but syntax. There are even converters from one language to another - write a program in VB, get the output in C# (and Vice versa). But I don't suggest to start with VB, since it is actually a dead language, despite the fact that the authoritative ranking of the popularity of programming languages he is taller than C#. The reason is the United States. There are still actively hiring VB developers who have to maintain legacy code. This is especially true of the banking sector. Pay for VB more, but to dig into legacy - something else fun.
In General, given that both languages - the brainchild of Microsoft, and that the company actively promotes C#, it is better to start with him.

Yes, some VB, what you are) It with a strong desire, you can teach as a second/third if you want to get a job in a specific firm or for a specific position, but to teach it first.. the New code it just does not write the language of legacy. Yes, in VB something maybe good for learning, but no, now don't waste time on him.

Here C# is competing with other popular languages for a place under the sun (albeit very successfully), and you're talking about Visual Basic :).

Definitely C#. Although I know one vacancy, where they have the legacy project at the old VB. So they offer 150K ZP

Sharp. VB as a language is not bad, but... not necessary in General, to go against the flow
