Is there any books about game development?

I want to move to a new level in game development. The surest way is to read about it. Found many books in English. Tried some of them to read and even though I have it turned the feeling of not the same.... Looking for Russian but for geymdevu found nothing... Can something advise?

Learn English finally already! Immediately move to a new level (and this is true not only for gamedev, and not only in IT - this is true in any field of knowledge)

Have finally understand that all relevant information is published in English and most of it is not translated into Russian (or translated from znachitelnoy delay)

Just asked this question (a search of books in Russian on this subject) not so long ago. I can advise to read here things like:
1) game Development and theory of play (Ref Bonfire). The book is about why we play, why we like certain games, why we don't like others. Useful to read for the General development: provides an understanding of why games are doing so and not different;
2) Templates games programming (Robert Nystrom). The book is about used in game development design patterns. Me to the end are not read, therefore can't say anymore. In Russian language there is, I understand, Amateur translation.
3) Blood, sweat and pixels (Jason schröer). Stories about the road to success from the mouth of the developers of masterpieces: what difficulties were overcome, how they did it and what it cost them. Also for the overall development will go.

This is in regards to (what I remembered) game development. There is a huge amount of articles, tutorials and videos on the subject but need to know what to look for: a specific technology, a specific algorithm or a specific tool. The book "what to use for what and how is to choose" neither in Russian, nor in English, I haven't found it yet. But stubbornly looking for.

Game development is too vague a concept. You want to understand the technology or learn how to do something? If the technology, look for books about them, not about game development in General. For example, tessellation or generating a world.
If you want to learn how to make games, you will choose the engine. Go to his website in the documentation section. This will be your first book about him.
Well, just for fun, you can read on the topic: "how did the quake/crysis/warcraft/..."
