Bought a iPhone 4 and was happy to find out that it can be used as a wi-fi router. And just think, and whether has sense to pay for two mobile Internet on iPad and iPhone, if you can pay for the Internet only on the iPhone and iPad to connect via wi-fi. In the end, the iPhone is always with you, and no iPad. Among the shortcomings can only see different times of operation of these devices, and if the iPhone sat iPad was left without Internet. But in such extreme cases it is possible and SIM card change.

Is anyone using this scheme? There are other drawbacks (maybe the speed drops or something else)

The speed will be maximum, even in 3G, if there is no strong interference nearby.

The disadvantage is that the operator is permitted to use "Personal hotspot" in some certain areas, for example, in Moscow (SIM-card MTS) "Personal hotspot works", but in Moscow region this section simply disappears from the menu.

So before using this feature check with the operator whether there is such a function and where it will work.

As WiFi router
— need to remember to charge two devices
— need to carry two devices
— phone runs out quickly, especially on 3G

I am quite comfortable. The phone is really iPad runs out of power quickly if you leave home for a few days, this scheme does not work. For the average trip of the "office in the morning — evening home" works on hurrah.
